The Ghillies are a high-energy modern Country-Rock band featuring stellar songwriting, memorable hooks, and exceptional musicianship. Formed in 2008, the Ghillies started out as a creative outlet for a group of New England based songwriters and musicians who at the time were working with and writing for some of the country’s top rock and country artists. This “side project” quickly morphed into something more than the members ever expected, and the Ghillies began take the modern Country scene by storm. The Ghillies have worked with New England-based musicians from bands like J. Geils, Aerosmith, and Boston, and Nashville based musicians from artists such as Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean, and Taylor Swift. This Boston-Nashville connection has proved to be a great opportunity for the band, enabling them to quickly expose a wide audience to their music and gain new fans every day. The debut album, “Meet the Ghillies,” released on October 1st, 2010, was recorded by Chris Latham at EMI Music Publishing Recording Studios and mixed by Grammy award winning engineer and producer, Chad Carlson (Taylor Swift, Trisha Yearwood, Sugarland, Chris Isaak) at Hippo Sound, Nashville, TN. Mastering was done by Andrew Mendelson at the legendary George town Masters, which has mastered as much as 50% of the country charts and whose list of clients includes Kenny Chesney, The Rolling Stones, Garth Brooks, Jason Aldean, Martina McBride, Trace Adkins, and Keith Urban. “Meet the Ghillies” features the deep, soulful, and instantly recognizable voice of lead vocalist Chuck Ghillie, and consists of a wide mix of material, from feel-good and easy-going to introspective and contemplative. With roots in classic and modern rock and country, and drawing on broad range of musical influences from bands like KingsX and Led Zeppelin to Big & Rich and Garth Brooks, the Ghillies appeal to listeners of all genres of music; not just Country. Performers on “Meet the Ghillies” include musicians from Kenny Chesney’s band as well as first-call Nashville greats who have performed with premier artists such as Johnny Cash, Wynonna Judd, Leann Rimes, and Glen Campbell.
